After a relatively quiet debate for him, Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump literally and figuratively got the last word at ABC News’ Republican presidential primary debate Saturday night. As Sen. Ted Cruz finished his closing statement by referencing his win in last week’s Iowa caucuses, Trump segued into his own closing remarks with a hard shot at Cruz for what he did to Ben Carson in that state’s contest:
Cruz: The people of Iowa put country and our children above the corporate welfare. We can turn this country around if we get back to the constitution and I will always stand with the American people against the bipartisan corruption of Washington.

Trump: That’s because he got Ben Carson’s votes, by the way, but we won’t say that.

The crack drew a mixed, mostly negative reaction from the crowd, but as Trump observed earlier, they might not be the best barometer of his success tonight.

Iran Nuclear Deal: Israel Condemns Agreement as 'Bad Mistake'

TEL AVIV, Israel — Israeli officials came out swinging against a nuclear deal with Iran even before any official announcement on Tuesday. 

"Iran is going to receive a sure path to nuclear weapons," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said before a meeting in Jerusalem. "Iran will get a jackpot, a cash bonanza of hundreds of billions of dollars, which will enable it to continue to pursue its aggression and terror in the region and in the world. This is a bad mistake of historic proportions." 

On Twitter, he added that Israel remained determined to stop Iran from developing a nuclear arsenal.

"Giving the world's largest supporter of terrorism a free pass in developing nuclear weapons is like providing a pyromaniac with matches"

"We knew that the will to sign an agreement is stronger than anything and that's why we never committed ourselves to stopping it," he said in Hebrew. "We did commit ourselves to stop Iran from arming itself with nuclear weapons and that commitment still holds on." 

Netanyahu contends that Iran cannot be trusted with any sort of nuclear program, and says Tehran must be made to stop supporting militancy throughout the region. 

In March, he delivered a scathing speech to the U.S. Congress in an attempt to derail the process. 

Speaking to the Knesset on Monday, Netanyahu referred to huge marches held in Iran to celebrate Al-Quds day, a holiday in support of Palestinians, on July 10.

"As Iran continued to receive more and more concessions at the negotiating table, Iranian President [Hassan] Rouhani led a march of hatred in the streets of Tehran in which the masses cried, 'Death to America! Death to Israel!'" he said.

WASHINGTON — Republicans who started off viewing Donald Trump as an amusing sideshow are starting to fret that the real estate billionaire is becoming the main event.

Since he defied skeptics and launched his presidential bid last month, Trump has rocketed in the polls, dominated media coverage and helped steer the debate on issues.

“I don’t know that he even knows how far he takes this,” former Rep. Thomas Reynolds (R-NY), who is close to GOP candidate and ex-Gov. George Pataki, told The Post. “He has the wherewithal . . . He has put together a pretty wholesale ground force in New Hampshire, and that has to be taken seriously.”

Trump accounted for a stunning 48 percent of all social-media and tra­di­tional-media conversation about politics over the last week, according to analytics group Zignal labs for The Washington Post. Trump had 1.9 million mentions, compared with just 448,000 for top Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Trump’s presidential rivals at first steered clear of his controversial comments about Mexican “rapists” pouring into the country — although several took opportunities in the last week to distance themselves from Trump. The pushback doesn’t seem to have hurt Trump, who continues to poll strongly and is assured a spot in next month’s Republican debate on Fox.

Trump told NBC’s “Today” show on Thursday he had “nothing to apologize for” and credits himself with raising the immigration issue in the campaign.

Trump’s success in early polling is undeniable.

He even leads the latest North Carolina poll, by Public Policy Polling, with 16 percent. He’s second to Jeb Bush in the latest CNN national poll and is also running second in Iowa.
